About the Department
The Department of Forestry Sciences was established in the academic year (2013 – 2014). The department awards a Bachelor's degree in Forestry Sciences over a period of four years, during which the student acquires sciences related to forests, starting from planting trees and shrubs, then sustaining and investing in their various products, along with how to preserve them from external influences, in addition to studying the living communities that live within the forest and the effect of the forest on its external environment.
The department is headed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Mateen Yilmaz Izaldin.

Vision, Mission & Objectives
Vision
Working to expand and sustain green cover because of its economic, protective, and social benefits for the region and its residents by graduating specialized and trained cadres in forest sciences.
Mission
Enhancing the department's contribution to the advancement of the agricultural, forestry, and industrial reality in terms of using wood as a raw material in many major industries and the environment as one of the main contributing factors to preserving it, through the department's various scientific activities, the production of the teaching staff, and the good scientific level of its graduates.
Objectives
- Graduating specialized cadres trained in various forest sciences capable of serving the community.
- Developing scientific curricula related to forest sciences and other intersecting sciences influencing them.
- Contributing to solving forest problems within Iraq through research, studies, and discussion circles.
- Increasing local community awareness through introductory leaflets, seminars, intensive training courses, and involving the community in its operations.
- Developing the scientific level through cultural exchange programs, twinning, and training courses with their counterparts from international institutions.
