University Psychological Counseling Unit
Comprehensive psychological and educational support for students and staff
The University Psychological Counseling Unit aims to provide continuous support to students across all levels (undergraduate and postgraduate; morning and evening studies), as well as faculty members and employees, through seminars, workshops, and lectures. The unit promotes compliance with university regulations, rejects extremism and negative behaviors, and publishes awareness posters and guidance materials (psychological, social, and health-related). It also encourages student activities in various fields (cultural, sports, and arts).
The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at the University of Kirkuk was established under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Apparatus / Educational Supervision Department, Reference No. JT/811 dated 15/03/2016, and the university order No. 7/27/3399 dated 28/03/2016. It was later upgraded to the University Psychological Counseling Unit under university order No. 2/7/12431 dated 27/08/2025, based on directives of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Apparatus, Reference No. JTM/258 dated 14/01/2025, regarding activating the psychological counseling and educational guidance system in universities.
The unit helps students understand themselves and their concerns, invest their capabilities and interests, and choose goals and paths aligned with their ambitions—supporting psychological, social, and academic adaptation, and strengthening personal growth and integration.
