Fellowships, Scholarships, Study Leaves, Missions, and Strengthening Scientific and Cultural Partnerships

The Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department is one of the active academic departments at the Presidency of the University of Kirkuk. Administratively, it is affiliated with the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies. The department is concerned with organizing scholarships, fellowships, study leaves, and scientific missions outside Iraq, in addition to building and developing cultural and academic relations with local and international universities and institutions.

The department also undertakes tasks that include following up on the academic status of students studying abroad, organizing the admission and follow-up of Arab and international students within approved programs, as well as coordinating memoranda of understanding and agreements and receiving delegations and visitors, in a way that strengthens the university’s presence locally and internationally.

Main Objectives and Tasks of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department

1Processing Scholarship Transactions and Following Up Academic Status
Processing scholarship, fellowship, and study leave transactions, and following up on the status of students and researchers between their home affiliation at the university and the universities where they study, while ensuring the fulfillment of all academic, financial, and legal requirements.
2Strengthening Scientific and Cultural Cooperation with Reputable Universities
Communicating with reputable local, Arab, and international universities to establish programs of scientific, academic, and cultural cooperation, and facilitating joint supervision, visiting professor programs, postdoctoral studies, and sabbatical opportunities.
3Facilitating Academic Missions and Participation in International Conferences
Facilitating the procedures for sending teaching staff to participate in international conferences, seminars, workshops, and research missions, in a way that enhances scientific communication, knowledge transfer, and academic development.
4Seeking Grants, Fellowships, and International Programs
Continuously seeking scholarships, fellowships, and international programs dedicated to the development of staff and students, and coordinating with relevant departments and cultural attachés to activate these programs in practice.
5Following Up the “Study in Iraq” Program and Incoming Students
Implementing the student admission plan within the “Study in Iraq” program and following up on the status of incoming students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, while ensuring communication with cultural attachés and related entities inside and outside Iraq.
6Issuing University Orders and Organizing Relieving/Joining Procedures
Following up on the issuance of university orders related to inclusion and academic missions for fellowships, scholarships, and study leaves, as well as following the relieving and joining procedures of delegated students, their academic status, and extensions, while ensuring accurate and continuous documentation of all such matters.
7Activating Memoranda of Understanding, Agreements, and Twinning Partnerships
Concluding and activating memoranda of understanding, scientific and academic agreements, and twinning partnerships with distinguished universities and scientific institutions, and following up on the implementation of their clauses in a way that serves the university’s goals in scientific and research openness.
8Coordinating Cultural and Scientific Initiatives and Activities
Coordinating initiatives related to cultural and scientific activities between the university and external entities, and organizing joint lectures, joint research, and cultural events that enhance the university’s academic and cultural presence at the regional and international levels.
