A master's thesis at the College of Law and Political Science, University of Kirkuk, discussed the role of international arbitration in compensating for environmental damages. The thesis was presented in the Hammurabi Hall at the college.

The thesis, submitted by researcher Akam Ahmed Bakr, aimed to clarify the role of international arbitration in demonstrating the importance of international rights and obligations arising from activities undertaken by states. It also traced the historical development of international arbitration, highlighted the procedural specificities of establishing arbitration tribunals in environmental cases, and explored how rules of international responsibility for actions causing environmental damage are established.
