A master's thesis at the College of Education for Humanities at Kirkuk University discussed the role of conceptual metaphor in Kurdish verbs.
The thesis, submitted by student Siwa Saddam Karim, aimed to reveal the role of conceptual metaphor in constructing Kurdish verbs and to demonstrate how it contributes to shaping meanings and expanding semantics. It also analyzed the mechanisms by which abstract concepts are transformed into linguistic expressions with concrete meanings.
The thesis concluded that conceptual metaphor plays a significant role in shaping meaning in Kurdish verbs, as it contributes to transferring meanings from sensory and familiar domains to more abstract domains, reflecting the relationship between linguistic structure and the mechanisms of thought and perception among speakers.
