In implementation of the Iraqi national security strategy (Iraq first), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a scientific symposium entitled Food Security from farm to table, in the presence of the dean and members of the faculty . The seminar included a lecture in which Dr. Haider Bahjat Nasih explained the importance of food security's ability to secure access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to improve the nutritional and health status of society, as it depends on crop diversity and sustainable agricultural practices, especially modern technologies. The lecturer recommended the need to encourage local agriculture, develop infrastructure, support agricultural research and innovations, and raise community awareness of the importance of maintaining food security .
