The Afforestation Unit was established in the College of Agriculture in (2023) in response to the change in the environment and the need of the university community for a responsible body to introduce the subject of afforestation and spread the culture of the green environment and sustainable development in the university and society and increase green spaces inside and outside the university through voluntary campaigns carried out by the Afforestation Unit on an ongoing basis. The Afforestation Unit is managed by the Agricultural Engineer (Umaima Abdulsamad Hassan).
Vision: Knowing the reality of green spaces in the university, and choosing the best ways to sustain them.
Mission: Defining the importance of afforestation and its benefits for the community environment and the benefits of sustainable development.
Objectives: Transforming universities into green spaces and an example to be emulated and creating beautiful gardens to make the university environment suitable for students, in addition to the role of the Afforestation Unit in the following:
1- Introducing students and society to the importance of afforestation.
2- Spreading the culture of afforestation from the university.
3- Holding awareness seminars and workshops on the importance of green spaces for the environment and humans.
4- Defining sustainable development and its benefits.
5- Increase green spaces in the university and the city.
6- Contribute to tree planting campaigns in governmental and civil institutions.
7- Cooperate with civil society organizations to spread the culture of tree planting.
