In implementation of the initiative by the Prime Minister through National Afforestation Day (March 12th annually) to plant 5 million trees and palm trees, the Afforestation Unit, in collaboration with the Student Activities Division of the College of Agriculture at the University of Kirkuk, launched its campaign to plant trees at government departments in Kirkuk Province.
Ms. Umayma Abdul Samad Hassan, Head of the Afforestation Unit at the college, explained that the campaign included several government departments in Kirkuk, such as the Kirkuk Environment Directorate and the National Commission for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Safety. The campaign involved distributing saplings and awareness brochures to employees of the visited departments, aiming to encourage tree planting, improve and preserve the environment, enhance ecological sustainability, activate volunteer programs, and promote green spaces to create a cleaner environment in Kirkuk Province.
