The College of Science discussed the master's thesis entitled "Isolation and molecular diagnosis of the pinworm parasite from the displaced in Ashti camp in the city of Sulaymaniyah" by the student Nour Ali Yahya and supervised by Prof. Dr. Saadia Shehab Hamad, Prof. Dilnia Asaad Muhammad. The study headed by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Neamat Ali Ahmed, revealed the extent of the spread of the pinworm Enterobius vermicularis in Ashti camp for displaced people in the city of Sulaymaniyah, where 438 random stool samples were collected from children and of both sexes (187 males, 251 females) in order to ensure microscopic examination and accurate discrimination of E. vermicularis based on 5srRNA. The results showed that the infection rate of pinworms was 43.6%, and the highest infection rate was recorded in the young age group, indicating that school-age children are the most vulnerable group to infection, as well as a direct relationship between parasite infection and the phenomenon of nocturnal enuresis in children and Especially in females. The researcher recommended the necessity of paying attention to the cleanliness of the house and taking care of general and personal hygiene, and conducting a periodic examination of children, especially those of school age, in cooperation with health authorities to diagnose pinworm infection through the Microscopic examination of stool or through adhesive tape and treatment of the disease as soon as possible.noor1
