The College of Science discussed a master’s thesis tagged “environmental hydrogeological study using the self-effort method in the Laylan Secondary Basin - Kirkuk / Iraq” by Zubair Abdullah Sultan, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Omar Sabah Ibrahim Al-Tamimi, Prof. Dr. Zahir Khalil Ali. The study aimed to: Finding an alternative technique, which is (self-potential measurement) to study the hydrogeological reality of groundwater basins to overcome the difficult field obstacles that accompany the use of traditional groundwater level detector (Sounder) devices, through the use of the Self-Potential device to draw a map of equal depths to groundwater and evaluate the characteristics of the reservoir The study included the use of the geophysical self-effort method, which falls within the field of environmental hydrogeology, as it is one of the important studies through which one of the most important sources of water is identified, which is groundwater, by identifying the characteristics of reservoirs containing groundwater. The study that after examining the level of correlation between the data obtained from the sounder device and the self-potentiometer (sp) in terms of the type and size of the data obtained It was obtained in the field study that was represented and interpreted in the form of contour tracks and maps and compared with the results and traditional readings by means of statistical analyzes.zuber1
