A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, examined “The Effect of Using Berberin Seed Oil Compared with the Synthetic Antioxidant BHT in Diets of Laying Hens to Alleviate Hydrogen Peroxide-Induced Oxidative Stress and Its Impact on Productive, Physiological, and Antioxidant Traits.”

The thesis, submitted by Fatimah Redha Mousa, aimed to evaluate the effects of berberin seed oil at two dietary inclusion levels and compare its performance with the synthetic antioxidant BHT. The study also investigated the interaction between the two treatments under conditions of oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide in laying hens.

The study concluded that the inclusion of berberin seed oil in the diets of Lohmann White laying hens resulted in significant improvements in the productive, physiological, and antioxidant traits evaluated, demonstrating its potential as an effective natural alternative to synthetic antioxidants under oxidative stress conditions.
