The Faculty of Science discussed the master's thesis tagged "Preparation and Identification of Some Polymeric Derivatives of Polyaminostyrene and Studying Their Applications" by the student Ruqayyah Luqman Karim and supervised by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hassan Ahmed, Dr. Farah Khalaf Hammoud. The study aimed to prepare a number of compounds from the polymer-supported Schiff bases. For polystyrene using a group of aromatic aldehydes with different in situ para and ortho compensators, and preparing other compounds from the interaction of the polymer-supported Schiff bases with each of (acetophenone, chloroacetyl chloride, glycine, maleic anhydride and phthalic anhydride). The results of the spectral information represented by FT-IR showed And H-NMR showed that linear polystyrene is suitable as a supportive medium for Schiff bases through the interaction of polyamino styrene with different carbonyl compounds and obtaining Schiff bases supported by the polymer despite the variation in solubility from one compound to another. The results also showed a clear discrepancy in the results of thermal decomposition DSC.
