The Faculty of Science discussed the master's thesis tagged "Study of glycation of some blood plasma proteins in heart patients" by student Mustafa Saber Abbas, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Israa Ghassan Akram. The study aimed to measure some biochemical variables in the sera of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases (group A) Diabetic heart patients (group B) and comparison between them to find out the correlations, and sera of healthy people (control group C), as the ages of the studied groups ranged from (24-70) years, as well as albumin protein purification and treatment with different concentrations of glycation inhibitor Ascorbic acid. The study concluded that there was a very strong negative correlation between (carbonyl and thiol percentage) and a positive correlation between (total protein and globulin) in both groups of patients, while a strong positive correlation was found between (carbonyl/total protein and free amine/total protein) among a group Diabetic heart patients. On the other hand, a small and negligible association was found (carbonyl / total protein and free amine / total protein) in the non-diabetic heart disease group (group A), as these parameters that arrange They may be useful for assessing and differentiating cardiovascular disease and their severity.
