The Faculty of Science discussed a master’s thesis tagged with isolation and diagnosis of bacteria and yeasts that cause urinary tract infection in pregnant women in Kirkuk by the student Hind Muzahim Jadou, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Sana Hussein Muhammad. The thesis included a study of isolation and diagnosis of bacteria and yeasts that cause UTIs ) in pregnant women, and diagnosed by routine laboratory methods using the (Vitek 2 compact system), and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, as (200) urine samples were collected from pregnant women with urinary tract infection, and their ages ranged between (17-43) years. The incidence of urinary tract infections in pregnant women increased by 63.5%, and that E. coli bacteria were the main cause of UTIs in pregnant women, with a rate of 23.6%, and Candida albicans was one of the most common yeasts causing UTIs in pregnant women with a rate of 17.3%. . And the highest incidence of urinary tract infection was in the third stage of pregnancy, at a rate of 39.3% and in ages (17-25) years, at a rate of 44.8%. Gene expression of antibiotic resistance genes using real time PCR technology, as well as conducting immunological tests such as (IgA and IL-6) in women during pregnancy for the first three months.
