The University of Kirkuk team won the third place in the Iraqi Universities Basketball Championship, which was held by the Student Activities Department / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, held in the capital, Baghdad, after its victory over the Al-Mustansiriya University team.

The Director of Student Activities Department at the university, Eng. Ibrahim Bahram Khurshid, "The tournament ended with the University of Baghdad team winning the championship title, after its victory over the University of Al-Qadisiyah team, which ranked second, and our university team winning the third place after its victory over Al-Mustansiriya University, He added that this participation was the conclusion of the agenda of sports, scouting, artistic and cultural activities, tournaments and festivals for the current academic season, which was under the supervision of the Student Activities Department in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, in which the University of Kirkuk achieved distinguished results in many of its participation.
