A study at the University of Kirkuk examines the effect of aqueous extract of basil seeds, vitamin C and selenium on Awassi sheep

The Faculty of Agriculture discussed a master’s thesis entitled A comparative study of the productive and physiological effect of aqueous extract of basil seeds, vitamin C and selenium as anti-heat stress in Iraqi Awassi sheep, for student Issam Saeed Omar, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sarmad Abdul Razzaq Aboud Al-Saadi. The thesis aimed at a comparative study of the effect. The productive and physiological characteristics of the aqueous extract of basil seeds, vitamin C and selenium as anti-heat stress in Iraqi Awassi sheep, as 20 Awassi ewes were used in the experiment, their age ranged between 9-10 months and average weight between 25.7-27.9 kg. The experiment was divided into five groups and each group included 4 Ewes of homogeneous weight with 4 replicates in each group. The study concluded that the aqueous extract of basil seeds, vitamin C and selenium led to a significant improvement in the studied traits.
