Kirkuk University discusses the effect of using lycopene compared to BHT antioxidants on laying hens

The College of Agriculture discussed a master's thesis on the effect of using lycopene compared to BHT antioxidants on productive and physiological performance and antioxidant status of laying hens, by the student Muhannad Nadhim Ahmed, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ammar Qahtan Shanoon.

The study aimed to know the effect of adding the natural antioxidant lycopene compared to the industrial BHT on the productive status of laying hens and the effect of adding the natural antioxidant lycopene compared to the industrial BHT on the biochemical image of blood components and improving the status of antioxidants and lipid peroxidation in the body.

The study concluded that adding lycopene alone or with the industrial antioxidant led to an improvement in productive performance, bird health and the quality of eggs produced.
