The College of Agriculture discussed a master’s thesis on propagating Citrus Lemon local ex vivo, by student Irfan Fateh Shakur, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Nouri.
The study aimed to employ the technique of propagating local lemons ex vivo, and to obtain local lemon seedlings in large numbers and in a short time compared to traditional methods, and not to adhere to agricultural seasons, unlike other methods, and to obtain seedlings bearing the same characteristics as the mother plant and free of pathogens.
The study concluded the possibility of using sodium hypochlorate (NaOCl) in the sterilization process, starting experiments on the emergence and multiplication of the used parts of local lemons, and the possibility of using WPM medium with a higher efficiency than MS medium in lemon propagation.
