Kirkuk University discusses the study of the genetic manifestations of the estrogen receptor and its effect in quail

The College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, discussed a doctoral thesis on the study of the genetic manifestations of the estrogen receptor and its effect on the productive and physiological performance and genetic parameters of the white quail, by the student Ismail Younis Hassan, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ihan Kamal Muhammad, and Professor Dr. Samoal Saadi Abdullah.

The study aimed to "identify the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the estrogen receptor gene, and evaluate the performance of some productive and physiological traits of white quail."

The study concluded that the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) gene, the CC genotype, has a significant effect on the egg production characteristic of Japanese white quail during the first, third, and fourth productive periods, as well as during the total productive period, compared to the two CT genotypes. And TT, while the TT genotype outperformed the CT genotype during the entire productive period of the experiment, while the TT genotype outperformed the CC and CT genotypes in terms of female weight when laying the first egg.
