A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, discussed “Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Pre- and Post-Emergence Herbicides in Weed Control and Their Impact on Growth and Yield Traits of Two Bread Wheat Cultivars” submitted by the student Hevin Shahab Ahmed.

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of herbicides applied before and after emergence on both the crop and weeds, determine which application timing is more effective, and identify the herbicides or herbicide mixtures that provide the best weed control.

The study concluded that most of the herbicides used before and after emergence can produce positive results when applied at the appropriate weed-control timing, leading to improvements in plant growth and yield. The findings also indicated that tank-mixed herbicide applications can achieve favorable outcomes in weed management.

Furthermore, the study demonstrated that the wheat cultivar Buhouth 22 outperformed Ibaa 99 when weed control measures were implemented at the proper time, allowing the cultivar to fully express its superior growth and yield characteristics.
