Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, the Women’s Empowerment Unit in the College of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education and the Inspectorate of Antiquities and Heritage of Kirkuk, organized an awareness seminar on protecting antiquities in the city of Kirkuk, in the presence of the Dean. The college and its affiliates.
The official in charge of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the College of Agriculture, Mrs. Shawbo Omar Ali, explained that based on the letter of the Presidency of the University of Kirkuk, attached to the letter of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Minister’s Office, the Department of Government Information and Communication, and attached to the letter of the National Security Advisory regarding recommendations for the workshop that was held at the Center Al-Nahrain Strategic Studies on the subject of antiquities, reality and ambition. The Deanship of the College of Agriculture held an awareness seminar on protecting antiquities in Kirkuk Governorate.
The symposium aimed to spread cultural and archaeological awareness in Iraq among the university community and to seek the assistance of teachers and specialists in the field of archaeology to deliver these lectures in seminars and conferences, and to educate the new generation about the importance of heritage and how to preserve it.
The symposium included a lecture delivered by Professor Raed Okla Muhammad Taha, Director of Kirkuk Antiquities and Heritage, in which he explained the importance of preserving the heritage of Kirkuk Governorate by spreading cultural and archaeological awareness among the university community, by producing dividers and designing infographics that include information about Iraqi antiquities, and publishing these materials in The official websites of educational institutions, as well as on the university’s social networking sites, with the help of specialists to produce these materials, and organizing student artistic festivals that include a presentation of the productions of students and teachers on the topics of Iraqi civilization and antiquities.
