Dr. Abbas Abdullah Taha, an instructor at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in the agricultural training course organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in collaboration with the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate and the Local Federation of Agricultural Associations. The event took place at the Taza Demonstration Farm and focused on the integrated management of wheat crops under irrigation systems.

Dr. Taha explained that his lecture, divided into theoretical and practical parts, covered several key topics. On the theoretical side, he provided an introduction to wheat crops and their importance, the application of modern irrigation techniques to improve water use efficiency, enhancing soil fertility through integrated nutrient management, and controlling pests and diseases using sustainable methods. He also discussed selecting suitable varieties for specific climatic and soil conditions and adopting proper harvesting and storage practices to minimize losses and ensure quality.

During the practical session, a field visit to the Taza Demonstration Farm was conducted, where hands-on explanations of crop management practices were provided. Farmers were advised on the importance of crop rotation and fallow systems to boost productivity. Additionally, the lecture addressed wheat weeds and methods for their control, with a particular emphasis on the Sunn pest and its impact on crop yield.
