A lecturer from the University of Kirkuk delivers a lecture during a field demonstration

Dr. Hussein Abdullah Ahmed, an instructor at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in a field demonstration organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Kirkuk. The event, held at the Taza Demonstration Farm, focused on the appropriate timing for applying nitrogenous and foliar fertilizers during wheat growth stages under irrigation systems, with the attendance and participation of several farmers.

Dr. Ahmed explained that his lecture covered key topics, including an introduction to nitrogenous and foliar fertilizers, wheat growth stages and nutrient requirements, the importance of fertilizers in addressing nutrient deficiencies, and optimizing the use of nitrogenous and foliar fertilizers. He emphasized the need to apply these fertilizers at suitable times during wheat growth stages to enhance productivity and reduce crop losses.

Additionally, he recommended farmers regularly monitor plant and soil conditions, adjust fertilizer quantities based on crop needs, apply foliar fertilizers cautiously to avoid leaf burns or adverse effects, and tailor fertilizer use to the plant’s critical growth stages, environmental factors, and farm-specific requirements to ensure optimal results.
