Dr. Ali Abbas Ali, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in a workshop organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Kirkuk, in cooperation with the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate, titled “Adaptation to Climate Change – Strategies and Opportunities,” with the attendance and participation of a group of farmers.
The lecturer explained that his presentation addressed several key points, including the concept of carbon emissions and their impact on the environment, the carbon footprint and its role in climate change, the excessive harm caused by the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the health and environmental risks associated with them, and the importance of using crops that are tolerant to salinity and drought under changing climate conditions.
