A master's thesis at the University of Kirkuk discusses the geotechnical assessment of the rock masses of the Injana Formation for engineering purposes. The study, presented by the student Salem Sabah Khalaf, aimed to conduct a geotechnical and field assessment of the rocks discovered near the village of Tal al-Dahab to determine their suitability for engineering purposes and to assess the stability of the rocky slopes through conducting a geological survey that resulted in preparing a geological map on a scale of (1:25000).The study concluded that the percentages of moisture and density were low, with high porosity and weak to medium compressive resistance in moderation with a few discontinuities and exposure to a high degree of erosion. As for its engineering uses, it is easy to drill because of its very low hardness. The study is considered good, but it is not suitable for building purposes, not suitable as thermal insulators, and not suitable as cladding stones (Riprap).
