The Faculty of Arts at the University of Kirkuk held an integrated international scientific symposium on the status of women in the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras in cooperation with the BRC Scientific and Humanitarian Foundation and with the participation of several specialized researchers.The symposium aimed to clarify the status of women in the pre-Islamic era in the fields in which they were a strong source to inspire the feelings of the knights and stir up their emotions, in which they immortalized literature bearing all the meanings of strength, pride, and honor.The symposium published several lectures that dealt with the status of women in pre-Islamic times, the status of women in examples of pre-Islamic poetry, a literary study, and the position of women in Islam.The symposium recommended the need to pay attention to literature and the arts that women contributed to and to open the horizons of creativity for them, as they are the nucleus of society and the main pillar in it, to call for the protection of women from violence, and to pay attention to researching topics related to poetry about women through the study of human values derived from the poets’ descriptions of women in the pre-Islamic era.
