Kirkuk University discusses growth indicators, yield and its components for yellow corn crop

 

The Faculty of Agriculture discussed a master's thesis on growth indicators, yield and its components for the yellow corn crop. Zea mays L. at different periods of control of accompanying weeds, by the student Bayraq Awad Sabaa, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulmoein Shabib Hamad.

The study aimed to know the effect of the period of removing the weeds accompanying the yellow corn crop and the best pesticides and their mixtures and their effectiveness on harmful weeds and the interactions of these factors and their effect on growth and yield.

The study concluded that Rimisulfuron pesticide alone or in a basin mixture with Atrazine pesticide has high effectiveness on weed characteristics, and the appropriate period for control was 30, 45 and 60 days after germination based on the results reported in the experiment, and that pesticide treatments, whether alone or mixed, have a significant significant effect in reducing competition between weeds and the crop, which is reflected positively on the characteristics of vegetative growth, yield and its components.
