Agriculture College Arranges Student Field Trip to Farming Facilities

As part of the College of Agriculture at the University of Kirkuk's plans to enhance students' knowledge and based on the principle of cooperation between university colleges and relevant government institutions, the College of Agriculture organized a scientific field visit for its students to the Hawija Horticulture Station and the olive press.

The head of the visiting delegation, which included faculty members and students, Professor Dr. Khattab Abdullah Mohammed, explained that the purpose of this visit was to familiarize students with different types of deciduous and evergreen fruit trees, how to propagate their seedlings, and the methods of cultivating them in wooden shade structures and plastic greenhouses.

The visit also included a tour of olive mother orchards to introduce students to the available varieties, including high-oil-content olives, table olives, and dual-purpose varieties. Additionally, the itinerary covered a visit to the olive press, where students learned about the process of extracting virgin olive oil, the methods of its extraction, its different stages, and proper storage conditions.
