Kirkuk University organizes an awareness symposium on online blackmail

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Osamah Ibrahim Ahmed, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education and the Voluntary Subcommittee, organized an awareness seminar on electronic blackmail, in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs. And postgraduate studies, Professor Dr. Ammar Qahtan Shanoon, the teaching staff and the college students.

The symposium included two lectures, the first by  Asst. Lect. Maha Kamal Ahmed, and the second by the lecturer, Assistant Professor Dr. Saadoun Hasib Arif, through which we presented a definition of the meaning of electronic blackmail, its methods, methods of blackmail, and what are the penalties that the Iraqi legislator has established to limit this phenomenon.

The symposium aimed to educate the younger generation in universities about the seriousness of this phenomenon, and the necessity of informing the competent authorities if an individual is exposed to electronic blackmail, so that legal measures can be taken against him, and also to alert the Iraqi legislator, through recommendations that came out of the symposium that the law regarding electronic blackmail should be more Strict action to eliminate this phenomenon that threatens the societal fabric.
