Kirkuk University organizes a workshop on chemical and biological risks in laboratories.

Under the patronage of the Honorable President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, the Chemical Safety and Security Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division and the Quality Assurance Division, organized a workshop on chemical and biological risks in laboratories and ways to prevent them, In the presence of the Dean of the College, his administrative assistant, the teaching staff, laboratory officials, and graduate students. The workshop aimed to educate laboratory workers, including laboratory officials and graduate students, about the necessity of following applicable procedures and instructions when working in laboratories and factories, and methods of prevention in the event of emergency situations. The workshop included two lectures, the first by Lect. Dhikra Ahmed Hassan, and the second by Lect. Dr. Ashraf Hashem Ali, in which they explained the most important procedures that must be followed by laboratory workers, and methods of preventing chemical and biological risks. The workshop recommended that laboratories should be equipped with a collective alarm system with buttons outside the laboratory rooms for all workers in the building, a private alarm system for each laboratory, warning signs in areas of dangerous chemicals (toxic and flammable), glass bottle holders containing hazardous materials, and the presence of a metal or metal waste container. Resistant plastic for collecting various chemical waste and broken glass, proper storage of chemicals, separating chemicals that may be in close proximity to each other, storing highly toxic materials in a designated place, and keeping materials that need refrigeration in refrigerators.
