University of Kirkuk Lecturer Delivers a Guidance Seminar on the Challenges of Tomato and Potato Production

Dr. Ali Abbas Ali, a lecturer at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a speaker in a guidance seminar organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in cooperation with the Kirkuk Directorate of Agriculture and the Local Union of Farmers’ Associations.

The seminar focused on the challenges of tomato and potato production as part of the extension program for promoting the cultivation of strategic crop varieties tolerant to salinity and drought through the use of modern irrigation techniques. The event was attended by rural youth and local agricultural representatives.

Dr. Ali explained that his lecture covered several key topics, including how to select crop varieties resistant to drought and high temperatures, water management using modern irrigation technologies, improving soil fertility, combating salinity, managing pests and diseases under dry conditions, employing agricultural mechanization and modern technologies, as well as reducing production costs and enhancing economic efficiency.
