As part of the University of Kirkuk’s efforts to expand its partnerships with agricultural institutions and companies, strengthen practical education, and connect academic learning with modern technologies, the university signed a Letter of Intent for cooperation in agricultural training and technology transfer with Seba General Trading and Supplies.
The Letter of Intent was signed on behalf of the University of Kirkuk by Professor Dr. Abdullah Ali Mohammed Tamim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies and Acting Dean of the College of Science, in the presence of Dr. Saad Abdul Majeed Waheeb, Head of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering at the College of Agriculture. The agreement is particularly significant because it is not limited to a single academic field. It opens avenues for cooperation involving both the College of Agriculture and the College of Medical and Industrial Plants, strengthening integration between agricultural disciplines and the fields of medicinal and industrial plants, while expanding opportunities for training, knowledge exchange, and the transfer of modern technologies to students, faculty members, and researchers at both colleges. The Letter of Intent aims to establish an initial framework for cooperation in agricultural training, knowledge exchange, modern technology transfer, workshops and training courses, and support for joint scientific and research activities.
These efforts are intended to contribute to creating a more practically oriented educational environment that responds to the needs of the agricultural sector.
The initiative also represents a step toward improving educational outcomes at both colleges by strengthening practical training and providing students and researchers with greater opportunities to learn about modern technologies and practices, thereby connecting academic knowledge with real-world applications and labor-market requirements.
The partnership is expected to open future opportunities in areas including modern and precision agriculture, biotechnology, plant production, medicinal and aromatic plants, plant protection, agricultural sustainability, and technology transfer, enhancing the ability of both colleges to prepare scientific and professional graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed to keep pace with rapid developments in the agricultural sector.
