The Deanship of the College of Agriculture has announced that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, has approved the establishment of the Department of Smart Agriculture, making it the seventh scientific department within the college for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research approved the establishment of the new department following a field visit conducted by a ministerial committee appointed to assess the college. The committee submitted its report to the Ministry after verifying that the college met all the requirements stipulated in the regulations governing the establishment of academic departments in Iraqi universities.
The Dean added that the establishment of the Smart Agriculture Department aims to keep pace with technological developments in the agricultural sector. The department is expected to graduate qualified agricultural professionals capable of working in this field and contributing to increasing agricultural productivity and improving quality through modern, scientifically based approaches.
