The College of Pharmacy holds a scientific symposium entitled (The Harm of Energy Drinks on Adolescents and Youth)

The College of Pharmacy, through the Continuing Education Division, held a scientific symposium entitled (The Harm of Energy Drinks on Adolescents and Youth) on Thursday, 4/4/2024.

The symposium included several axes through which the two researchers, Assistant Lecturer Jahan Jalil Muhammad and Assistant Lecturer Hanadi Hussein Sharqi, addressed the definition of energy drinks as harmful gases due to their high content of caffeine, which negatively affects human health, especially children and adolescents, causing many diseases, the most dangerous of which is heart attack, in addition to the risk of obesity and others. The symposium also distinguished between harmful energy drinks and sports drinks that are beneficial for hydrating the human body, especially athletes.

At the end, it recommended that students adhere to healthy foods and fluids such as fruit juices, nuts, etc., and stay away from energy drinks.
