A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, examined the performance evaluation and estimation of selected genetic parameters for growth and yield traits of soybean genotypes under different foliar iron spray concentrations.
The thesis, submitted by the student Zainab Salem Habib Abdullah, aimed to evaluate soybean genotypes for yield and its components, oil and protein traits, assess the effect of foliar iron application on the traits under study, identify the best combination of soybean genotype and iron concentration, and estimate selected genetic parameters for the evaluated traits.
The study concluded that the interaction between iron foliar application and genotype had a significant effect on most of the traits studied. High heritability values and expected genetic gains were recorded for traits such as plant height, biological yield, and harvest index, indicating the potential for improving these traits through selection. In contrast, lower heritability values were recorded for seed number and pod length, which limits the effectiveness of direct selection for these traits.
