A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, examined “The Effect of Different Weed-Control Methods on the Growth and Yield Traits of Maize Genotypes and the Methods Used by Farmers to Control Weeds.”
The study, submitted by Hadi Wadi Habeeb, aimed to identify the most effective weed-control methods in maize based on their effects on growth and yield traits. It also sought to determine the maize genotype with the greatest competitive ability against weeds and the highest yield potential.
In addition, the study investigated the extent to which maize farmers apply weed-control techniques and examined the key characteristics of farmers, including age, educational level, farm size, the area planted with maize in the previous year, annual income, exposure to information sources, and attitudes toward adopting modern agricultural technologies for weed control.
The study also explored the relationship between these farmer characteristics and their level of application of weed-management techniques in maize fields.
