A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, examined “Growth, Yield, and Quality Indicators of Sorghum Genotypes under the Effect of Different Weed-Control Methods.”
The thesis, submitted by Lizan Dara Yara, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of competitive cultivars in resisting harmful weeds and to assess the efficiency of integrated weed management using selective herbicides and early mechanical removal, with the goal of increasing yield, improving resource utilization, and reducing crop losses.
The study concluded that the interaction between manual weeding and the Rabih cultivar outperformed most other treatments in the majority of the traits studied. It also found that the post-emergence herbicide Castran was more effective against broadleaf weeds than against narrow-leaved weeds.
