A Master’s thesis at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, discussed the “Evaluation of the Response of Sunflower Genotypes Under the Influence of Weed Management Practices” submitted by the student Murad Yilmaz Ismail.

The thesis aimed to identify the best genetic genotypes in response to different weed management methods and determine the most effective weed management strategy in reducing weed competitiveness. It also examined the interaction effects between the study factors on growth traits, yield, oil percentage, and oil yield.

The thesis concluded that weed management had a significant effect on weed characteristics, and that the Ishaqi 1 variety showed higher competitive ability against weeds by reducing weed density and weight compared to other varieties. It also found that weed control increased the oil percentage in sunflower seeds compared to treatments where weeds were left uncontrolled.
