The Departments of Animal Production and Field Crops at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, organized a scientific visit for second- and third-year students from both departments to agricultural projects in Sulaymaniyah Governorate – Ranya District.

The supervisors of the visit—Assistant Lecturer Bula Jalal Nader, Assistant Professor Dr. Yaseen Ubaid Nouri Ahmed Sharif, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Ghafoor Bakr, Assistant Lecturer Ibrahim Adnan Khalaf, and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Madhi Zain Al-Abideen—explained that they implemented an advanced field-based scientific program aimed at strengthening the practical and applied aspects of students’ education and reinforcing their field skills through organizing scientific visits to agricultural projects in various provinces.

They added that the visit program included learning about practical methods of rearing carp fish in cold environments and analyzing the main production challenges associated with it. Students also explored crop production programs in the fields, the main types of field crops grown in the region, their varieties and productivity traits, as well as methods of variety selection and genetic improvement. The visit also covered understanding field experiment management technologies and evaluating productivity traits under different environmental conditions.

Additionally, the visit addressed beekeeping systems and modern methods of natural honey production, including visits to apiaries located along the shores of Dokan Lake.
