Scientific Seminar at the University of Kirkuk on Foot-and-Mouth Disease

Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, and the Head of the Animal Production Department, Professor Dr. Qaneh Hussein Amin, the Animal Production Department organized its 16th scientific seminar on Foot-and-Mouth Disease, its risks, and its health and economic impacts on Iraqi society. The event was attended by researchers and specialists in the field of animal production.

The seminar featured two lectures delivered by Assistant Lecturer Issam Saeed Omar and Assistant Lecturer Salam Kitab Rabat. They highlighted the purpose of the seminar, which is to raise awareness among breeders and farmers about the dangers of Foot-and-Mouth Disease and its impact on livestock. They provided accurate scientific information about the causes of the disease, its transmission methods, symptoms in infected animals, and emphasized prevention and control measures through vaccination, quarantine, and necessary veterinary procedures.

The seminar also discussed strategies for rapid response in case of disease outbreaks to limit its spread and reduce economic losses. It facilitated the exchange of expertise among veterinary and epidemiological experts and researchers, guiding decision-makers and relevant authorities toward effective policies to control the disease and protect livestock. Additionally, it aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of adhering to health and veterinary measures to mitigate the risks of the disease.
