The Department of Soil and Water Resources at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division, organized a scientific seminar on vermicompost technology and its role in achieving sustainable agriculture and improving soil fertility, with the attendance and participation of researchers and specialists in soil science.
The seminar included a lecture delivered by Lecturer Imad Khorshid Mohammed from the Agricultural Extension and Training Center. The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of vermicompost in improving plant growth and producing high-quality crops, as it is rich in microorganisms, enzymes, and hormones.
The lecturer explained that vermicompost improves the physical structure of soil and enhances its water-holding capacity. It also increases plants’ ability to resist pests and diseases, improves their tolerance to water stress, and contributes to enhanced seed production.
