Dr. Omar Shamil Mohammed, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in an extension seminar organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center, in cooperation with the Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate – Toun Kopri Agriculture Division, and the Local Farmers’ Associations Union, on controlling pests affecting potato crops, with the participation of a group of farmers.
The lecturer explained that his presentation covered key information about the most important pests affecting potato crops, methods for early diagnosis of insect and disease infestations, and integrated pest management approaches (agricultural, biological, and chemical). He also highlighted how to use pesticides safely and effectively on potato crops, as well as the role of proper irrigation and fertilization management in reducing the spread of pests.
