Assistant Professor Dr. Wael Fahmi Abdulrahman, a faculty member at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, participated as a lecturer in a professional training course organized by the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Kirkuk on improving the efficiency of resource use in wheat cultivation under Iraqi environmental conditions of drought and salinity, with the participation of trainees from various agricultural departments in the province.
The lecturer explained that his presentation focused on several key areas, including climate challenges and the impact of water scarcity and soil salinity on wheat productivity and food security. He also addressed smart irrigation, as well as physiological and modern techniques to improve water-use efficiency in coping with water stress. Additionally, he discussed fertilizer management and the role of organic and chemical amendments in improving soil fertility and treating salinity.
