In honor of National Iraqi Women’s Day, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, organized a celebration titled Iraqi Women: Challenges, Opportunities, and Successes. The event was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Ammar Qahtan Shanoon, along with female faculty members and students.
During the ceremony, the Assistant Dean delivered a speech on behalf of the college administration, emphasizing the pivotal role women play in society—both at home and in the workplace—as well as their contributions across all fields. Assistant Professor Nahla Kamal Asaad, in her remarks, highlighted the resilience of Iraqi women, stating, “Despite the challenges faced by our nation, Iraqi women remain strong, decisive, inspiring, compassionate, patient, and tolerant. They have proven their capabilities in every sphere of life.”
Dr. Suzan Ali Hussein, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, added, “Iraqi women have solidified their presence through their competence, entry into political life, and assumption of leadership roles in the state. Their achievements are a testament to their unwavering determination and ability to overcome obstacles.”
The celebration underscored the importance of empowering women and recognizing their vital contributions to Iraq’s social, economic, and political development.
