The Department of Studies and Planning at the College of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Department of Continuing Education, organized an awareness seminar on the national population census and the future of development in Iraq, with the attendance and participation of the college’s members and students. The seminar included a lecture given by lecturer Dr. Saad Abdul Majeed Wahib, in which he explained the importance of the population census as a basic tool for drawing up sustainable development policies, its role in improving regional planning and distributing resources fairly between governorates, providing accurate data to support decision-making, analyzing the labor market, and enhancing economic and social development. Wahib explained that the population census can contribute significantly to achieving a balance between population growth and natural resources, noting that Iraq is in dire need of activating this tool to address contemporary development challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and increased demand for basic services.
