As part of the summer training program for fifth-year students, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Shahd Abbas Al-Attar, a surgical procedure was performed to open the rumen (rumenotomy) of a cow suffering from pica, which had led to the ingestion of a strange combination of harmful substances (nylon, ropes, metal nails, and other materials). Al-Attar explained that fifth-year students, under the supervision of veterinarians, performed the surgery on the case, and that the surgery was successful. The patient was given the necessary treatment, with the breeder providing some medical and therapeutic advice to avoid health complications.
