Veterinary Surgery and Obstetrics Department

The Surgery and Obstetrics Branch is one of the most important clinical scientific branches that were established in the college, as the branch teaches veterinary surgery subjects to students in the fourth and fifth stages, as well as veterinary obstetrics and reproductive diseases in various field animals for both the fourth and fifth stages, where practical and clinical lessons on the branch’s subjects are given to students in the various stages. The branch works to be one of the leading branches in the field of research and teaching among the corresponding branches in Iraqi veterinary colleges, where the branch conducts joint scientific research with the basic scientific branches. And clinical Other branches that are at the forefront of veterinary medical sciences research, such as the Physiology and Internal Medicine branch, as well as providing a high-level teaching and learning environment for undergraduate students. The branch actively participates with the basic and clinical branches of veterinary medical sciences to exchange experiences in areas of common interest, and as the branch staff seeks Surgery and Obstetrics strive to work together and conduct research with highly qualified people and provide the basic requirements that will facilitate scientific research and learning.

In teaching surgery, obstetrics, and reproductive technologies, the branch relies on faculty members with high-level experience and competence and excellent qualifications in teaching and scientific research. Teaching is done using samples of male and female reproductive organs from animals, along with some of the necessary supplies to clarify the scientific lessons, by the branch’s teaching staff, in keeping with this. What is taught in other Arab and international universities, the branch aims to transfer scientific knowledge to students so that they are able to examine animals from a reproductive standpoint and reach the correct and accurate diagnosis.

Veterinary surgery includes surgery, anesthesia, x-rays and sonar, and is taught in the fourth and fifth stages.

As for veterinary obstetrics, it includes techniques of reproduction, fertility and reproductive diseases, and it is studied and taught in the fourth and fifth stages.

The objectives of the branch Graduated veterinarians who are able to practice surgery, surgical procedures in all their different levels, minor and major.
