The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organizes a scientific seminar on zoonotic diseases.

Under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Shahd Abbas Al-Attar, and in cooperation with the College of Nursing, and in implementation of the Iraqi National Security Strategy (Iraq First), a scientific seminar entitled "Zoonotic Diseases" was organized, attended by faculty members of the college. The seminar included a lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hassan, a faculty member at the College of Nursing, who explained how diseases are transmitted from animals to humans through direct contact with animals, through insects, or through the consumption of animal products such as meat or dairy. The severity of the disease depends on the type of causative agent, whether it is a virus, bacteria, fungus, or parasite. Among the most widespread and dangerous diseases are rabies, brucellosis, Helicobacter pylori, hydatid cysts, worms, and toxoplasmosis.

The seminar aimed to emphasize the necessity of adhering to preventive and precautionary measures, including general hygiene, regular animal vaccinations, and avoiding unlicensed establishments selling meat and dairy products.
