About the Veterinary Microbiology Department

This department was established on September 19, 2018. It provides third-year students with comprehensive information in all areas of microbiology, including pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and fungi that infect animals and humans, as well as the latest developments in this field. This serves as an introduction to applied sciences in subsequent years, such as infectious diseases, poultry diseases, and zoonotic diseases. Students are also given the latest information in microbial immunology and how to combat microorganisms with antibiotics and vaccines. Furthermore, the department aims to enhance the role of veterinarians in laboratory work, public health, and veterinary vaccines.

Vision:

To be a leader in providing distinguished education in the field of veterinary microbiology. The members of the Microbiology Department strive for excellence in veterinary medicine within the frameworks used in veterinary education systems both regionally and internationally, with the goal of studying the microorganisms that cause numerous animal diseases.

Mission:

To prepare veterinarians specializing in microbiology, capable of diagnosing and treating microbial diseases. In addition, to establish a fundamental knowledge base for veterinary medicine students in bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, and biological hazards.

Objectives:

1- To provide students with the basic concepts of pathogens from microorganisms and parasites, as well as immunology, to teach them methods of immunization and prevention of these diseases.

2- To broaden and develop students' understanding of how diseases caused by microorganisms and parasites occur, as well as their modes of transmission and life cycles.

3- To prepare postgraduate students specializing in veterinary microbiology and veterinary parasitology.

4- To organize continuing education courses, workshops, and seminars on emerging diseases to expand the awareness of veterinarians and the community regarding these diseases.

5- To study the types of microorganisms and their effects.

6- To develop effective diagnostic and treatment methods for microbial diseases. 6- Conducting scientific research in the field of veterinary microbiology.
