The College of Veterinary Medicine organized a discussion session entitled “Pros and Cons of Artificial Sweeteners,” attended by a number of college members. The session included a lecture in which M.M. Damt Fikret explained that artificial sweeteners are used as substitutes for table sugar, known as sucrose or table sugar, which is considered an alternative to manufactured sugar and is characterized by its intense sweetness and is extracted from some natural herbs. She added that caution must be exercised when using them, as is the case with natural sugar, due to the great health risks they pose.
